Clean Renewable Energy

Wind energy and solar energy are powering the clean energy transformation.  Hydropower, geothermal energy and biomass energy are also other forms of clean energy.  Accelerating your transition to clean renewable energy is one of the best ways to suppress the carbon pollution that causes climate change.

What is renewable energy?

Renewable energy is now referred to as clean energy and green energy.  The traditional way of making electricity is by burning fossil fuels.  Electricity is generated in a variety of ways and is mixed on the power grid.  The energy that reaches your facility depends on the generation facilities in your utility zone.  The most popular sources of renewable energy are:

  1. Solar energy
  2. Wind energy
  3. Hydro energy
  4. Tidal energy
  5. Geothermal energy
  6. Biomass energy

Clean energy, such as the sunlight, wind, water and geothermal heat, are constantly being renewed.  These forms of energy do not generate any carbon emissions or air pollution and help to sustain natural resources.  Wind and solar energy being generated in the United States of America are being integrated into our current electricity grid without comprising reliability.  As the world population continues to grow, so does the need for renewable energy in order to power our homes, businesses and communities and protecting the earth from climate change.

What is a Renewable Energy Credit?

A renewable energy credit is also referred to as a REC.  Renewable Energy Credits do not contain electricity.  RECs are an environmental attribute associated with the generation of a megawatt hour of renewable energy that can be paired with electricity.  Each REC embodies different characteristics that vary depending on the generation facility.  When a company purchases RECs they help build a market for renewable energy and increase demand for and generation of renewable electricity.  It also has other environmental benefits such as reducing greenhouse gas emissions by emitting little to no regional air pollution or carbon dioxide since the electricity is not being generated conventionally via coal or natural gas.  In addition, it will also help your businesses’ meet their sustainability goals.

What is community solar?

There has been a significant increase in the amount of solar farms, which you can see on top of buildings and in fields.  Instead of your business having to install the solar panels on the top of your buildings or in your open spaces, you are now able to participate in the reducing your electricity costs.  You are also making an impact on the environment by reducing the use of coal, oil, natural gas, etc. that is used in conventional electricity generation in order to generate the electricity you need.

Muirfield Energy offers community solar.
