Columbia Gas of Ohio and VEDO Auction Results in Substantial Retail Price Adder Increase

The Columbia Gas Transmission natural gas pipeline, also referred to as TCO, held its Retail Price Adder auction yesterday, January 26, 2021, for the Standard Choice Offer.

Columbia Gas of Ohio is one of the utilities that is part of the TCO pipeline. The auction resulted in an increase in the Retail Price Adder of $0.63 per MCF for Columbia Gas of Ohio.  The Retail Price Adder for April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 went from $1.07 per MCF to $1.70 per MCF behind Columbia Gas of Ohio.

Vectren Energy Delivery Gas, also referred to as VEDO, is also one of the utilities that is part of the TCO pipeline. The auction resulted in an increase in the Retail Price Adder of $0.53 per MCF for Vectren Energy Delivery Gas.  The Retail Price Adder for April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 went from $0.75 per MCF to $1.16 per MCF behind Vectren Energy.

In addition to serving Columbia Gas of Ohio, the TCO pipeline also services the following natural gas utilities:

  •             Columbia Gas of Kentucky
  •             Columbia Gas of Pennsylvania
  •             Dominion West Ohio Gas
  •             Vectren Energy Delivery Gas

The above increase is not official until the Public Utility Commission makes the announcement.  As soon as we receive the final Retail Price Adders for the various utilities, we will publish those numbers.

Consumers behind any of the above natural gas utilities need to keep a close eye on their natural gas utility bill.  There is a possibility of a pass through from your supplier or a rate increase from your utility.
