Cold arctic air temperatures and freezing precipitation are on the way.
The Polar Vortex is on track to bring cold arctic air down from Canada into the United States later this week. The predictions are that this will last into the first 10 days in February.
The above National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) temperature probability and precipitation probability models for January 20, 2021 through January 26, 2021 provide the details as to which regions of the United States can expect between 70% to 30% lower temperatures along with snow and rain storm probabilities.
The increase demand for heat will drive up natural gas prices. The February 2021 natural gas contract has been trading in the range of $2.708/MMBtu to 2.826/MMBtu today.
